There is a common theme among bloggers and online entrepreneurs – we don’t have balance in our lives.
I ran a poll on the Problogger forums asking why people choose not to start a blog that they have ideas for, and the main reason given was lack of time.
I surveyed readers of How to Become a Freelance Blogger and the results show that the biggest obstacle they have for starting a freelance blogging business is lack of time.
I surveyed Third Tribe forum members about email marketing and 20% say their biggest challenge is finding the time to do it well.
Time is something that most of us wish we all had more of. I know I do. Like many of you I constantly struggle to find the time to develop my blogs and my business amongst all of my other commitments such as my day job and family life.
I can’t think of a time in the last few years that I have really felt like I had the balance right. It always seems like I’m falling short in one or more areas. Currently it is my health that is getting the least attention, and I’m starting to feel it. My creative side has also taken a back seat to other priorities. I can’t remember the last time I picked up my guitar.
When Ali Hale recently asked me to proof read her new ebook, Regain Your Balance, I didn’t know what was about to hit me. I ended up reading the entire ebook in one sitting. From the opening chapter it spoke directly and clearly to the lack of balance I feel in my life right now.
In the opening chapter Ali asks the reader if any of these problems sound familiar.
- I never get to the end of my to-do list
- I love drawing/writing/music but I never find time for it now
- Whenever I sit down at my desk, I feel overwhelmed
- I’m always tired and/or stressed
- I set lots of goals but struggle to meet them
- I have loads of ideas but I never seem to finish anything
- I find it really hard to say “no”
I don’t know about you but I can put a tick next to all of those. Ali has hit on pretty much every imbalance I have in my life right now. She then goes on to deliver a lesson in why these problems affect so many of us, and how we can go about solving them.
But here is the best part. Regain Your Balance doesn’t just give you a bunch of advice you can nod your head to and then close the ebook and go back to your unbalanced life. Ali has also included worksheets for each chapter that can help you to actually find a way out your current situation and solve your problems.
As an extra bonus she also includes a printer-friendly version of the ebook without all the graphics that you can print out to carry with you and jot down notes as you read it.
My only criticism would be the lack of a .mobi or epub format for putting it on the iPhone or other e-reader devices, but for just $19 you definitely get great value in this package.
There is a free chapter you can download if you aren’t quite sure that it is a good fit for you.
If you’re struggling with balance in your life at the moment I recommend you check out Regain Your Balance by Ali Hale.

Hi there
I am trying to put together a website (investment advisor) and was trying to find an image that could represent our style and philosophy. I have looked far and wide and keep coming back to the image you use. It is perfect for us as it shows balance, caution, direction, a path and the human element.
I was wondering where the image came from and if you could provide me the owners contact info.
While I am concerned about uniqueness, my site is only visited about 10-15x a week and is not in the same business so it is highly unlikely anyone would ever notice.
Thank you, in advance, for any assistance you can provide.
