Installing WordPress with Fantastico

by Paul Cunningham on May 9, 2008

Installing your first Wordpress website is easy if your web host provides you with Fantastico. Fantastico is a series of install scripts written for popular web software such as content management systems, ecommerce, and of course blogging software such as WordPress.

Look for the Fantastico icon in your CPanel.

Choose “New Installation” to set up a new WordPress site.

Fill out the details of the new site. I am installing a new WordPress site of http://demo.bloggingteacher.com, configuring an admin password, and email address. I will leave the email account configuration (for posting blog entries via email) alone for now, and set that up another time.

Fantastico gives you a chance to confirm your details before proceeding with the install.

Once the site has been installed you should write down the username and password you chose so that you don’t lose them.
