Daily Blog Tips is running a group writing project asking for people to write about their internet goals for 2009. This blog was launched this year (2008) and I have been giving a lot of thought to where I want to take it in the new year. I’ve also opened up some other opportunities through my other main blog that I want to expand in 2009.
So here are my internet goals for 2009
Goal 1 – Increase paid blogging income
I got a taste this year for paid blogging and it has so far worked out well. It certainly isn’t “pro blogger” money but it means I don’t need to dip into the household budget to fund things like hosting fees, publishing setup costs, or development costs such as premium themes.
In 2009 I want to increase my paid blogging income by writing paid blog posts twice per week.
Goal 2 – Publish my first ebook
I’m writing my first ebook right now and I want to release it in January 2009 with a marketing campaign based around word of mouth, free giveaways, and an affiliate program. The book may turn out to be a total flop I guess but the important part to me is running through the entire process of writing, releasing, and promoting the ebook and the website for it and learn more about these things. Hey if it is a total dud I might just give it away free!
In 2009 I want to release my first (hopefully of many) ebook and learn about self publishing and promotion.
Goal 3 – Consistent posting to Crane Factory
My posting to this blog has been erratic and inconsistent. The reasons (or excuses) are pretty much along the lines of what most bloggers face as far as the challenge of keeping a blog going. Working in my favour though is my interest in the core topics of this blog which means I do not want to close it down and instead want to work harder over the next 12 months to try and improve it.
In 2009 I want to be more consistent and regular in my blog posting here.
Goal 4 – More visitors and subscribers
This is really an outcome of goal’s 2 and 3. Through the promotion of the ebook and more consistent blog posts I want to see more visitors and subscribers to my blog.
In 2009 I want to increase the number of visitors to my blog each month and build a loyal subscriber base.
Goal 5 – Site development
I need to improve the design of both of my main blogs as well as develop at least one new site. Although web design and development are hobbies of mine I am looking now at commercial premium themes such as those by Brian Gardner so that I can spend less time coding my own sites and more time writing content.
In 2009 I want to update the design of each of my blogs with a new premium theme.
So those are my internet goals for 2009. If you want to participate in the group writing project head over to Daily Blog Tips and find out how to enter. I’m looking forward to reading about other blogger’s goals but mostly I am looking forward to achieving my own in 2009.

Best of luck with your goals, seems lots of people are trying their hand at ebook marketing.
I’ve posted y goals online as well: http://www.improvingtheweb.com/my-internet-goals-for-2009/
I have been researching all the paid blogging sites and it seems there is trouble with some of them, (paid reviews and all that) and others seem to come and go. Do you mind sharing where you are finding success in this area?
:)
@Wesley – good luck with those goals.
@Linda Lee – thanks for your comment. I’ve sent you an email which I hope answers your question, and you’ve asked a good question that I might expand on in an upcoming post, so check back soon or subscribe to my feed so you don’t need to remember!
