I have been blogging now for almost a full year and the idea isn't to make money for my blog. I want to create quality content. I am hoping that my brand, TotallyUniqueLife, will be considered a quality brand. Blogging is a lot of work and a lot of fun also. It's challenging to find the time to get what you want to get done, done. The only blogger I've ever known who could do what he does was James Richmond from TheInfopreneur.net and he was like a machine and a great guy. I also like how you mentioned not putting a bunch of ads on your site just to try and make some money. Everyone wants money. Period. So don't try and just get some through your blog that way because it probably won't work. Actually care about your readers and give them value and explore the blogosphere and see what happens.
