Blogger Interview: Angela Kay Austin

In this blogger interview Angela Kay Austin talks about using blogging to meet new readers for her books.

Tell us a little about your blog.

My blog chronicles my writing covering: books, conferences, writing friends, and my journey as a romance author.

How long have you been blogging for? What made you want to start blogging?

About 6 months, believe it or not. I’ve always wanted to be an author, and as I researched more and more about it, I found that blogging was a great way to meet readers, and other authors.

What were some of your biggest challenges when you first started blogging?

Setting up my website. I knew absolutely nothing about servers or wordpress, but I know so much more, now. Now, it’s time. Having enough time to blog regularly.

How did you overcome these challenges?

I soaked up information from everywhere. I’d take online classes, join network groups, and local writing chapters. I’d talk with everyone about what I wanted to do, and they would make suggestions.

It’s been amazing how supportive the online community can be. Very unlike the corporate world I live in everyday.

What is a recent milestone that you have accomplished with your blog? How were you able to achieve this milestone?

It’s so simple that I know someone is going to laugh, but learning how to add contact forms and newsletters. My first book, Love’s Chance will be released by Red Rose Publishing on February 11, 2010, and I’ve been racing against a deadline to learn how to be moderately savvy with all of this, and I just made it under the wire.

Has blogging had any impact, positive or negative, on your confidence or belief in your writing and goal of being a published author?

I think blogging has given me confidence.  You find like-minded individuals, and it’s a great way to speak to them about what you love.

What is your next goal that you want to achieve with your blog?

I’d like to be able to blog everyday, and maybe actually get my follower count above sea level.

What is your best tip for other people out there who might be new or struggling with their blogging?

Don’t be afraid to ask questions. Everyone won’t respond, but the more people you ask, the more you know.

Thanks again Angela for taking the time to do this interview.
